Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Communication, Department of Cinema and Television organized a ceremony for its students who entitled to receive a High Honor and Honor Certificate for the 2024-2025 Spring Semester. Held at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, the ceremony hosted Producer Emre Oskay, Director Özcan Alper and Leyla Tanlar, the winner of the ‘Best Actress Award’ in the 25th Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festival. The ceremony turned into a broad event celebrating academic success and connecting attendees with experienced film industry professionals.
The ceremony commenced with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy, Dean of Faculty of Communication. Emphasizing EMU’s strong academic structure the field of communication, Prof. Dr. Ersoy congratulated the students for their hard work.
Also making remarks, Prof. Dr. Bahire Özad, Chair of Cinema and Television Department, noted that successful producer Emre Oskay who is also a graduate of EMU Department of Cinema and Television, was also one of the most successful students studying at the department, receiving numerous Honor Certificates in recognition of his achievements. Moreover, stating that Oskay once acted as the chair of the Cinema Club operating under the department, Prof. Dr. Özad stressed that Oskay stands out not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his loyalty to the department. Prof. Dr. Özad noted that despite being one of the most prolific producers in Türkiye and managing both a film company and the Atlas Cinema Museum in Beyoğlu, he still made time in his busy schedule to meet with the students, something that made them truly happy.
Following the speeches, students entitled to receive High Honor and Honor Certificates for their success during the 2024-2025 Spring Semester received their certificates from producer Emre Oskay, director Özcan Alper and actress Leyla Tanlar. Having leading figures of the film industry present the certificates stood out as one of the most memorable and inspiring moments of the ceremony.
The event continued with the screening of “Erken Kış” film. Then, during a talk event, Özcan Alper, Leyla Tanlar and Emre Oskay talked about film production processes, current dynamics in Turkish cinema sector and its future. At the conclusion of the event, EMU Vice Rector for Students Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu presented souvenirs to Alper, Tanlar and Oskay.
The event honored academic success and connected students with leading industry figures, reflecting the innovative and energetic spirit of EMU’s Cinema and Television Department.
