EMU Theatre Community’s “Performing Arts Night – III” Filled with Laughter and Emotion

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Theatre Community operating under the EMU Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Directorate staged the first play of 2025-2026 Academic Year under the title of “Performing Arts Night – III”. Receiving great interest, the third edition of the “Performing Arts Night” series initiated last year was held on 23rd and 24th of October 2025 at EMU Activity Hall.

The three-sketch play began with “Little Red Riding Hood”, which playfully reinterpreted the classic tale through a contemporary, satirical perspective, eliciting both laughter and thoughtful moments from the audience. The second sketch, “Culture Shock”, brought to the stage the humorous yet striking experiences of a freshman adapting to university life. The evening concluded with the sketch titled “The Murder”, which captivated viewers with its blend of suspense and heartfelt emotion.


Created entirely through the dedication of EMU Theatre Community students, “Performing Arts Night – III” earned the thumbs up from audiences over its two-day run. Filled with laughter, the production drew attention for the cast’s impressive performances and its skilfully executed stage direction.

The production was brought to the stage under the direction of Ekin Karabulut, with Ahmet Emre Topaloğlu acting as assistant director. The script was co-written by Karabulut and Topaloğlu. The staging team comprised Ahmet Emre Topaloğlu, Azade Akkuzugil, and Kemal Toprak Özbakır, while the play’s poster was designed by Polat Emence

EMU Theatre Community members Ahmet Emre Topaloğlu, Azade Akkuzugil, Berke Yörüsün, Can Birlik, Deniz Dilşa Okuryazar, Dilara Mirioğlu, Ekin Karabulut, Furkan Sırakaya, Gencer Hakan Gencer, Kemal Toprak Özbakır, Lina Sivri, Nihal Kaya, Özkan Alp İşbiçer, Polat Emence, Sena Nur Kayalı, Sevgi Güneş, Sude Karakurt, Sude Naz Aslan, Yiğit Kargın and Yiğit Kibar were highly appreciated for their performances. Yiğit Arda Saygı, Ayşe Armağan and Baha Beşli also contributed to the success of the team with their backstage contributions.

Attending the opening event of the show, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç welcomed the attendees and underscored the importance of university students being engaged with the arts. Prof. Dr. Kılıç reaffirmed that EMU will continue to support cultural and artistic activities, and he congratulated the members of the theatre community for their dedicated efforts.

At the end of the event, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu presented EMU Theatre Community with a plaque. Participating students were also presented with certificates of appreciation.

Over the course of the year, the EMU Theatre Community will continue to welcome professional theatre companies and artists, while also bringing its new productions to audiences who share a passion for the stage.
