Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) organized “2nd Futsal Tournament” in memory of Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics academic staff member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif Akkeleş who sadly passed away in 2024. Held in Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Complex, the finals round of the tournament were played between Technical Affairs Directorate Team, EMU Crows, Sports Affairs Directorate Team and Security Affairs Team.
In the third-place match, the Security Affairs Team faced the Technical Affairs Team, while the final match featured a competition between the Sports Affairs Directorate Team and the EMU Crows Team. Following closely contested matches, EMU Crows claimed first place, the Sports Affairs Directorate Team finished second, the Security Team placed third, and the Technical Affairs Team came fourth.
The event was attended by EMU Board of Trustees (VYK) Member Özdinç Akdel, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr Sonuç Zorlu, staff members from EMU Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Directorate and the family members of late Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif Akkeleş.
Following the matches, an award ceremony was held during which the winning teams received their awards from EMU VYK Member Özdinç Akdel, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Sonuç Zorlu, staff members of EMU Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Directorate, and the family of Akkeleş.
