Organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Arts and Sciences Faculty, Department of Mathematics with the contributions of Onal Fadıl Demirciler Education and Science Foundation, the “30th High School Mathematics Competition” final took place at EMU Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall with strong participation and excitement. Famagusta Turkish Maarif College, Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School, Turkism Maarif Collefe, 19 Mayıs Turkish Maarif College and Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College competed during the final round. Following a closely contested final, Gazimağusa Turkish Maarif College, represented by students Efe Şafak, Naz Kaanoğlu, and Bartu Özaydın under the guidance of Mathematics teachers Kemal Tezay and İhsan Nurluöz, secured first place.
Turkish Maarif College, represented by Kamil Dede, Beyza Çallı, and Mert Güney Taşbel under the guidance of Mathematics teachers Deniz Ahcıhoca Çobanoğlu and Zehra Kavuklu Tekkan, placed second. Meanwhile, 19 Mayıs Turkish Maarif College, consisting of Nesibe Öztürk, Egemen Kahyaoğlu, and Kral Mehmet Diker and coached by Mathematics teacher Ahmet Kasabalı, secured third place.
In the competition, Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School—represented by Halef Yurtkuran, Cem Bağdatlıoğlu, and Demir Karadeniz under the guidance of Mathematics teachers Nursel Altan Andız and Derviş Topal—placed fourth and received the “Onay Fadıl Demirciler Special Award”. Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College, consisting of Miray Korhanay, Tuana Nursema Kılıçel, and Neyyire Demirdağ and coached by Mathematics teachers Şerife Kabus and Ayten Arısoy, finished fifth and received the “Assist. Prof. Dr. Kemal Demirciler Special Award”. In addition, TED Northern Cyprus College—represented by Gamze Selen Kum, Kardelen Eylül Arslan, and Mustafa Altun under the supervision of Mathematics teachers Fuat Temelci and Fuat Ortaş—earned the “30th Year Special Award” after placing third in the semifinal round.





At the award ceremony held following the final round, the first-place award was presented to Gazimağusa Turkish Maarif College by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç. The second-place award was presented to Turkish Maarif College by Yusuf İnanıroğlu, Director of the General Secondary Education Department, while the third-place award was presented to 19 Mayıs Turkish Maarif College by EMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe. The awards for Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School, which placed fourth and received the “Onay Fadıl Demirciler Special Award” and Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College, which placed fifth and received the “Assist. Prof. Dr. Kemal Demirciler Special Award” were presented by Naciye Demirciler, daughter of the late Onay Fadıl Demirciler.




Individual Competition Awards Presented
In the individual competition held on 18 April 2026, Kamil Dede secured first place, followed by Gamze Selen Kum in second place, while Efe Şafak and Naz Kaanoğlu shared third place. Halef Yurtkuran finished fourth. The awards were presented by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, Director of the General Secondary Education Department Yusuf İnanıroğlu, EMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan.
Special Awards Presented
Special commemorative awards presented within the scope of the competition also found their recipients. Nesibe Öztürk received the “30th Year Special Award”, Demir Karadeniz the “Onay Fadıl Demirciler Special Award”, Bartu Özaydın the “Assist. Prof. Dr. Kemal Demirciler Special Award”, Cem Bağdatlıoğlu the “Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif Akkeleş Special Award”, Egemen Kahyaoğlu the “Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Kirezci Special Award”, Mert Güney Taşbel the “Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peter Kas Special Award”, and Beyza Çallı the “Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daoud S. Daoud Special Award”. The awards were presented by Prof. Dr. Suzan Cival Buranay, Chair of the Department of Mathematics; Naciye Demirciler; faculty members; Funda Özçelik Akkeleş, spouse of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif Akkeleş; and EMU graduate Necmi Şerbetçioğlu.
Achievement Certificates Awarded
Certificates were presented to Kayra Özdemir, Kardelen Eylül Arslan, Eliz Örsdemir, Nahide Karşılı, Ahmet Gazi Yardımsevenler, and Deha Hasan Ulusoy, who qualified for recognition in the individual competition, by EMU academic and administrative officials and school directors.
Champion Angels Remembered
The “Champion Angels Special Award”, presented in memory of the Champion Angels, was awarded to Kral Mehmet Diker and Miray Korhanay. The awards were presented by members of the Champion Angels Foundation.
