Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Medicine students and academics hosted children and officials from the Foundation for Children with Leukemia (LÖSEV), as part of the annual social and cultural field trip program organized by the foundation.
Welcomed with Special Name Tags
Faculty of Medicine academics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amber Eker and Dr. Özge Cumaoğulları Eker, members of Eastern Mediterranean University Scientific Research Community (SRC) and medical students welcomed the LÖSEV team with special name tags themed “Heroes – Future Scientists”. Commenced in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the event continued throughout the day with a variety of educational and social activities.
During the visit, the children toured the Faculty of Medicine laboratories, where they received information about anatomical models and educational teaching aids. Activities conducted in the Anatomy Laboratory provided the children with the opportunity to explore scientific studies firsthand with the guidance and support of medical students.
EMU Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Güzoğlu, Vice Deans Assist. Prof. Dr. Hatice Efekan and Assist. Prof. Dr. Berfu Çerçi Öngün accompanied the children during the activity.
One of the Most Heartwarming Moments of the Day
As part of the program, flowers and a symbolic olive tree were planted in the Faculty garden. Marked by “Heroes Were Here” sign, this meaningful activity created a lasting memory and emerged as one of the most heartwarming moments of the day.
The event continued with activities organized by the Early Childhood Studies Student Club, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Yazgın. Using the toys they had designed for the Spring Festival stand, club members spent time playing games with the children. At the end of the program, bookmarks specially prepared by the club students were presented to the children as keepsakes of the day.
The event bringing together EMU Medicine Faculty students with the children from LÖSEV, once again showcased the importance of sharing, solidarity and being hopeful. Children had an opportunity to boost their morale while meeting the future doctors and scientists. Held in a warm and positive atmosphere, the program fostered mutual interaction.
