“Cryptocurrency” talk event organized by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Science Communication Office was held at Coffeein Terrace Café, Kyrenia on 10 June 2026. Receiving strong participation, the event organized with communication sponsorship by North Cyprus Turcell, aimed at raising awareness on digital assets and cryptocurrency investments. EMU Faculty of Business and Economics academic Prof. Dr. Mete Feridun took part in the said event as a speaker.
A Focus on Cryptocurrency Investments
As part of the talk, the discussion focused on the fundamental principles of cryptocurrencies, investment practices, and the factors investors should carefully consider. Prof. Dr. Mete Feridun shared key insights into the cryptocurrency market, highlighting the role of leverage and the importance of balancing potential risks with expected returns. He also stressed that establishing a clear investment strategy and following it with discipline are essential for navigating the market effectively and making sound investment decisions.
The event also explored various components of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, including non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and meme coins. Prof. Dr. Mete Feridun highlighted the highly speculative nature of these digital assets, emphasizing the importance of informed and cautious decision-making by investors. Officials from the EMU Science Communication Office stated that the Science Cafe series aims to bring science closer to society while raising public awareness of issues that directly affect everyday life.
