EMU and Kharazmi University Sign a Dual Degree Program Protocol

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Kharazmi University, one of Iran’s oldest and most established universities, operating since 1919, have signed a collaboration protocol for the implementation of a postgraduate Dual Degree Program (DDP). The protocol was signed by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Kharazmi University Rector Prof. Dr. Bijan Abdollahi. Under the signed agreement, the two universities aim to strengthen academic cooperation and expand international educational opportunities.

EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe and Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, Rectorate Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Cahit Ezel and Kharazmi University International Relations Office Director Dr. Ali Tahaei were present during the signing session the protocol.

Under the signed protocol, students enrolled in the master’s program in the field of tourism will be eligible to earn dual degrees by completing designated stages of their studies at both universities. As part of the program, students will complete their first two academic semesters at Kharazmi University and their third and fourth semesters at the EMU Faculty of Tourism.

The program will be offered in English, with students required to satisfy internationally recognized English language proficiency requirements. Throughout the program, participants will conduct their academic work under the joint supervision of faculty members from both universities. In addition, their master’s theses will be prepared and assessed with the involvement of academics from each institution.

Through this collaboration, the program aims to provide students with a global perspective by enabling them to study in different academic and cultural environments. At the same time, it seeks to enhance academic publications, student mobility, and joint research activities between the two universities.

The protocol signed between EMU and Kharazmi University is regarded as an important step in line with the universities’ internationalization vision, and the collaboration is expected to further strengthen the academic capacities of both institutions.
