Pelisu Ağazade, a 3rd year student at the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty, participated in a research exchange program organized under the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, from 3 to 28 August 2026.
As part of the program coordinated by the IFMSA Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE), Ağazade took part in a research project titled “Assessments of the Cardiopulmonary Sequelae Associated with Post-COVID-19 Syndrome – Long COVID-19” at the Research Department of the Marius Nasta Institute of Pneumology. The project focuses on assessing the persistent effects of COVID-19 on the heart and lungs.
Hosted by FASMR, IFMSA’s member organization in Romania, in collaboration with the Local Committee of Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, the program provides students with the opportunity to actively engage in scientific research under the supervision and guidance of an academic advisor.
Making remarks on the matter, Dean of the EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Güzoğlu said, “I wholeheartedly congratulate our student Pelinsu on her participation in this valuable academic endeavor and wish her continued success in her future studies.”
Emphasizing the importance of students taking part in international research programs, Prof. Dr. Güzoğlu said, “The participation of our students in international research programs is immensely valuable and a source of great pride, both in terms of their academic development and the international visibility of the Eastern Mediterranean University Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty.”
