Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Pharmacy academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Leyla Beba Pozharani received the best oral presentation award with her presentation titled “Optimization and Characterization of Nano-Emulsions Consisting Eucalyptus citriodora Essential Oil through Design of Experiments” which was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Beba Pozharani at the 10th BBBB (Baltic, Balaton, Bled, Bosphorus) International Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences held in Estonia on 12-14 September, 2024.
In her presentation, Assist. Prof. Dr. Beba Pozharani tackled the stability challenges arising from the volatility of Eucalyptus citriodora oil by creating nano-emulsions. These cutting-edge formulations showcased potent antimicrobial properties and excellent stability. Using the Design of Experiments (DOE) method for optimization, the formulation showed effectiveness against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, underscoring the importance of nano-emulsion technology in boosting the therapeutic potential of alternative herbal remedies.
By successfully representing EMU at a highly prestigious conference, Assist. Prof. Dr. Beba Pozharani made a significant contribution to promoting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on international platforms.
