Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus Policy Center (EMU-CPC) researching member Assist. Prof. Dr. Devrim Şahin attended the “Knowing the Global-Local: Imagining Pasts, Debating Futures” international conference held in Rijeka, Croatia where the researcher presented two of his studies.

In his presentation titled “Re-Thinking the Relations”, Assist. Prof. Dr. Şahin highlighted the significance of embracing relational thinking to more effectively comprehend the shift from power communities to a balance of power. Assist. Prof. Dr. Şahin argued that deterministic approaches, which focus on power and institutional balance, are inadequate for anticipating the intricate interactions that define modern geopolitics.

On the other hand, in a second presentation titled “Cosmopolitan Society and the Rules Governing It”, Assist. Prof. Dr. Şahin examined the traditional foundations of political science, suggesting that social phenomena can be better understood through the principles of quantum mechanics.
