Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and North Cyprus Turkcell signed a collaboration protocol covering the fields of education and career. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Group Director of North Cyprus Turkcell Human Resources and Procurement Serhat Gezgin signed the said protocol on Thursday, 4 December 2025 at 04:00 p.m. at EMU Rector’s Office building. The signing session was also attended by EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe and Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu, and Kübra Yalçın, Talent Manager at North Cyprus Turkcell.
The protocol seeks to create a framework for cooperation between North Cyprus Turkcell and EMU in education, career development, research, and innovation. It aims to support the growth of students and graduates, combine academic expertise with industry practice, and jointly carry out projects that will benefit society.
In his speech, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that the two institutions gathered together for a meaningful collaboration that would reinforce the relation between them. Noting that the students will be provided job and internship opportunities through the signed protocol. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also highlighted the importance of uniting EMU—an institution that has grown from the roots of this country and become an integral part of it—with North Cyprus Turkcell, a powerful and internationally recognized organization. He concluded by expressing his hope that the protocol brings positive outcomes for both parties.
In his address, Serhat Gezgin, North Cyprus Turkcell Human Resources and Procurement Group Director, stressed the importance of universities and the business sector working together, especially given the rapidly changing global landscape, and noted that the newly signed cooperation protocol holds great value in this regard. Gezgin also extended his thanks to all those who played a role in bringing the protocol to life.
EMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu noted that the relation with North Cyprus Turkcell has consistently progressed with mutual goodwill. Moreover, she highlighted that the collaboration protocol provides significant benefits for students, expressing her belief that it will enable them to gain practical experience in their fields, apply what they learn while still studying, and create new employment opportunities.
