Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Board of Trustees (VYK) President Dr. Erdal Özcenk and VYK Members Beyhan Gürgöze paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Dr. Çağrı Erhan – the Chief Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. As part of the said visit, EMU VYK President Dr. Özcenk and VYK Member Gürgüze provided extensive information on EMU’s current endeavours, educational vision, and its internalization goals.
The meeting included an in-depth discussion of EMU’s forward-thinking, student-focused education policies designed to meet contemporary needs. Progress reports on research, digital transformation, and sustainability initiatives were also shared. Prof. Dr. Çağrı Erhan expressed his appreciation for the notable advancements in the university’s academic and administrative frameworks and thanked Dr. Özcenk and Gürgöze for their visit. During the meeting, Dr. Özcenk, President of the VYK, presented Prof. Dr. Erhan with a plaque featuring a design unique to Cyprus.
Who is Prof. Dr. Çağrı Erhan?
Prof. Dr. Çağrı Erhan, an expert in international relations and political history, held the position of Rector at Altınbaş University from 2015 to 2025. On 28 February 2025, he was appointed Chief Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and was awarded the ambassadorial title. He is a founding member of the Ankara European Studies and International Relations journals, which are among Türkiye’s leading publications in the field. In 2014, Prof. Dr. Erhan served as the General Coordinator for the Journal of International Relations. Moreover, he has provided commentary and hosted programs on several TV channels including TRT, SkyTürk, TVNet, and TV100. He also moderated the TRT News program “Dışa Bakış” and contributed a regular column titled “Diplomatic Reasoning” to the Türkiye Newspaper.
EMU Alumnus Visits Dr. Aydın Keskin Kadıoğlu – the Vice Chair of TÜİK
As part of their visit to Ankara, Dr. Özcenk and Gürgöze also met with Dr. Aydın Keskin Kadıoğlu, a graduate of EMU’s Faculty of Business and Economics, Department of International Relations, and the Law Master’s program. Dr. Kadıoğlu currently serves as the Deputy President of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). During the meeting, they exchanged information about EMU’s recent activities and highlighted the achievements of EMU graduates in both the public and private sectors.
Who is Dr. Aydın Keskin Kadıoğlu?
Dr. Aydın Keskin Kadıoğlu is an alumnus of EMU’s Faculty of Business and Economics, where he studied International Relations, and he later earned a master’s degree in Law from the same university. Renowned for his academic contributions, he has served as a special advisor to both the Prime Minister and President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Additionally, Dr. Kadıoğlu has held various roles within the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality and the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). From 2017 to 2021, he spearheaded key initiatives at the Directorate General of Migration Management before his appointment as Deputy President of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
Making remarks about the visits, EMU Board of Trustees President Dr. Erdal Özcenk stated, “Such visits are of great importance in terms of contributing to our university’s collaboration with state institutions and supporting the educational vision of our country.” Regarding the visit to Dr. Aydın Keskin Kadıoğlu, Dr. Özcenk added, “It is a tremendous source of pride for us that our graduates hold positions in Türkiye’s strategic institutions and critical roles. Eastern Mediterranean University not only provides academic knowledge but also equips individuals with leadership skills and a visionary perspective, preparing them for the future.”
