EMU Department of Mathematics Holds an Honor and High Honor Certificate Ceremony

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics organized an Honor and Honor Certificate Ceremony for 2025-2026 Academic Year Fall semester, honoring students for their academic achievements. Held at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, the event aimed to celebrate success of the students and to boost their academic motivations. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences; faculty members, students and guests attended the ceremony.

Opening addresses of the ceremony were delivered by Prof. Dr. Suzan Cival Buranay, Head of Mathematics Department, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Highlighting the importance of academic achievements of students, speakers also noted that efforts towards the advancement of department’s education quality are carried out with determinations. Following the opening speeches, Yunus Emre Kaynar and Aisha Saidu-Bala, who achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA and ranked first in the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Program for the semester, together with Rakim Levert Auphie, the top-performing student of the Actuarial Sciences Program, addressed the audience.

Following the speeches, certificates were presented to students who qualified for Honor and High Honor certificates by the Department’s academic staff. The certificate presentation ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Bozer, Vice Dean; Prof. Dr. Suzan Cival Buranay, Head of the Department of Mathematics; faculty members Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Aktuğlu, Prof. Dr. Rashad Aliyev, Prof. Dr. Benedek Nagy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neşet Deniz Turgay, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Saadetoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arran Fernandez, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pembe Sabancıgil Özder, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara, as well as Distinguished Professors Prof. Dr. Agamirza Bashirov and Prof. Dr. Nazım Mahmudov. The ceremony concluded with a group photograph of the students and academic staff, marking the end of the celebration.
