Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy, Dean of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Communication, attended the 34th International Council of Communication Faculty Deans (İLDEK) Meeting, hosted by the Faculty of Communication at Hasan Kalyoncu University in Gaziantep.
The meeting, which brought together communication faculty deans from universities in the TRNC, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, and the Balkans, aimed to advance the quality of communication education, strengthen academic collaborations among faculties, and promote collaborative initiatives addressing contemporary developments in the field. The deans of communication faculties operating in the TRNC also participated in the event.
The 34th İLDEK Meeting featured discussions on a range of topics, including the future direction of communication education, the impact of digital transformation, academic cooperation, and the development of collaborative projects among communication faculties. Organized annually since 2000 by a different host university, İLDEK serves as a key forum for evaluating current issues within communication education. The meetings address matters such as adapting curricula to technological developments, enhancing accreditation processes, and expanding the reach of training programs provided by the Communication Research Association (İLAD) and the Communication Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board (İLEDAK).
Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy noted that the meeting served as an important platform for fostering academic partnerships with other universities, exploring opportunities for collaborative projects, staying informed about the contemporary developments in communication education, and sharing best practices related to accreditation processes. He emphasized that participation in the meeting contributed to enhancing the international academic visibility of the EMU Faculty of Communication and enabled the faculty’s work in the field of communication education to be shared with a broader academic audience.
