Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Health Sciences Faculty added two new programs into its educational programs. The new “Exercise and Sports Sciences” master’s program (with thesis) run by the EMU Health Sciences Faculty, Exercise and Sports Sciences Department and, “Surgical Nursing” doctoral program run by the Department of Nursing has commenced providing training.
Students from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and international students can apply for the said Turkish-medium programs that are approved by the Higher Education Planning, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YODAK).
‘Exercise and Sport Sciences’ master’s program focuses on educating students in areas like sports physiology, training theory, research methodologies, performance assessment, kinesiological techniques, and exercise biochemistry. Moreover, it covers topics such as sports management, training practices for children, and preventive strategies for sports-related injuries. The program’s goal is to develop students’ expertise and advanced skills in the field of sports sciences.
On the other hand, ‘Surgical Nursing’ doctoral program approches key research areas in nursing, emphasizing the preservation and enhancement of individual health, disease prevention, evaluation of nursing interventions, and the advancement of care methods. In addition, it provides training in areas such as clinical decision-making, healthcare systems, strategic problem-solving, emerging surgical technologies, oncological surgical nursing, trauma and emergency surgical nursing, operating room and intensive care nursing, and transplantation nursing.

Applicants for the master’s program must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, while those seeking admission to the doctoral program must have both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.
