Pre-School Teacher Education program under the Department of Elementary Education, Faculty of Education at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and, Early Childhood Studies Club co-organized an event titled “Children’s Right to Play: Awareness and Advocacy” on the occasion of the World Play Day. Carried out as part of the “Play Development and Education in Early Childhood” course under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Yazgın, the event focused on preservation of children’s right to play and the developmental importance of play.

As part of World Play Day—a global movement advocating equal access to quality play for every child—an event was organized at EMU Atatürk Square (CL Square) where students presented their original toy designs that they developed to foster children’s holistic development, and introduced their innovative projects to visitors.

The event also attracted students from a variety of academic disciplines. Visitors toured the play exhibition, where they learned about the purpose and design of the student-developed toys. Throughout the event, emphasis was placed on the idea that play is not merely a recreational activity, but a fundamental right and a vital tool that supports children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
