EMU Represented at the 10th Eurasia Higher Education Summit by Eurasian Universities Union

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) attended the 10th Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2025) organized on 8-10 May 2025 by the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS). EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and EMU Institutional Development and International Academic Relations Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Cahit Ezel represented EMU at the said event.

Annually organized in Istanbul, the summit comes to forefront as an international event bringing universities, institutions and organizations operating in the field of higher education. Featuring over 400 higher education representatives from over 60 countries, this year’s summit consisted of academic presentations and workshops. Moreover, prominent participants leading the sector delivered various speeches within the scope of the event. Esteemed figures such as the Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, President of Association of International Educators (NAFSA), President of Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the President of EURAS were among the participants of the event.

During the summit, participants engaged in strategic sessions highlighting EURAS’s current activities and outlining future initiatives. The event also provided a valuable platform for representatives of EURAS member universities to connect and explore potential avenues for institutional collaboration. These discussions reinforced the network’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and innovation in higher education.

“EMU – The Gateway of TRNC to the Global Stage”

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç highlighted that the university continues to make significant progress in line with its internationalization efforts. Emphasizing the importance of EMU, as the gateway of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to the global stage, in representing the TRNC on esteemed international platforms, Prof. Dr. Kılıç also mentioned that these events play a key role in fostering academic and research collaborations with universities worldwide, further solidifying EMU’s strong position in the international higher education landscape.

EURAS

Established in 2008, EURAS is a non-profit international organization that brings together almost 140 member universities from regions including Western and Central Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and Asia. Its mission is to promote cooperation among universities in the Eurasian region and to support the global advancement of educational standards in these areas.
