Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) continues to bring different generations together through a shared tradition of education. The EMU tradition in the Kibar family has now been carried into its second generation, with Mehmet Kibar, son of EMU Faculty of Architecture graduates Kıvanç Kibar and Eda Kibar, gaining admission to the Molecular Biology and Genetics Department of the EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Kıvanç Kibar Builds a Successful Career in Architecture and Local Government
Kıvanç Kibar, a graduate of the EMU Faculty of Architecture from the 1996–2001 period, began his professional career at Kibar Architecture and Construction, working in architectural design, municipal procedures and construction practices. Having continued his career in these fields for many years, Kibar also served two consecutive terms, from 2014 to 2024, as a member of the Çankaya Municipal Council representing the Republican People’s Party (CHP).
During his tenure on the Municipal Council, Kibar contributed to the work of the Çankaya Municipal Council’s Zoning Commission in line with his professional expertise. He also participated in delegations formed as part of the sister-city partnership and social projects carried out between Çankaya Municipality and Lidingö Municipality in Sweden, taking part in official visits abroad. Kibar also played an active role in the general assembly activities of the Social Democracy Association (SDD) and was elected as a member of the Association’s Executive Board. Kıvanç Kibar continues his professional career at Kibar Architecture and Construction, where he works in the fields of architectural design, municipal procedures and construction practices.
Eda Kibar Brings Her Professional Expertise to Local Government
Eda Kibar, a graduate of the EMU Faculty of Architecture from the 1997–2002 period, began her professional career as an architect at a private company in Adana following her graduation. Between 2005 and 2009, Kibar worked as a contracted employee at the Çankaya Municipality Zoning Status Unit. Since 2009, she has been working as an architect at the Central Anatolian Municipalities Union of the Republic of Türkiye.
The Family’s EMU Journey Continues with the Second Generation
Mehmet Kibar, a graduate of Ankara Kavaklıdere College, has carried his family’s long-standing connection with EMU into a new generation by gaining admission to the EMU Molecular Biology and Genetics Department this year. Choosing EMU, where both his mother and father spent their university years, Mehmet Kibar has followed in his parents’ footsteps and become a member of the EMU family, pursuing his studies in a different field of science.
