Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Health Science, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation organized an online talk event on the occasion of Türkiye Physiotherapists Day. The event hosted Chair of Türkiye Physiotherapists Association Physiotherapist Kezan Zafer Aksungur and Cyprus Turkish Physiotherapists Association’s Chair Dr. Physiotherapist Şahveren Yücel as guest speakers.
The event was attended by the Dean of EMU Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoç, Head of the EMU Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department Prof. Dr. Mitat Koz, academic and administrative personnel and, many students.
The session covered a range of topics, including the latest advancements in the physiotherapy profession, professional solidarity, future perspectives, and the vital role of physiotherapists in the healthcare system. A key focus was the importance of the new regulation, published in the Official Gazette on 29 March 2025, which enables healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, dietitians, nurses, and speech therapists to practice independently under the Ministry of Health’s supervision. The implications of this regulation for the physiotherapy profession were thoroughly discussed.
