Turkish and Dubai Citizen Business Person Dr. İdris Demirhan Visits EMU

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) hosted an important guest in line with its goal to increase the university’s international collaborations and to enhance its impact in the global arena. GYODER Gulf States Representative, Member of the Turkish Business Council Dubai founding Executive Board, CEO of the Gate World – Dubai, Turkish and Dubai citizen business person Dr. İdris Demirhan paid a visit to EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç at his chambers.

The visit which took place on Tuesday, 18 February 2025 at 01:00 p.m. was also attended by EMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, EMU General Secretary Derviş Ekşici and Rector Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Çelik.

As one of Türkiye’s leading organizations representing real estate developers, GYODER actively participates in international projects, fostering global partnerships within the industry. Meanwhile, the Turkish Business Council Dubai works to enhance trade and economic relations between Tükiye and Dubai, striving to strengthen the position and influence of Turkish companies in the region.

The visit focused on strategic partnerships to enhance EMU’s visibility in the Gulf region and expand its global influence. Discussions focused on developing internship and training programs with major regional companies and fostering stronger academic and industry collaborations.

Dr. Demirhan conducted a detailed review of EMU campus and its infrastructure, praising its modern educational facilities, advanced technical resources, and world-class campus environment. Dr. Demirhan was particularly impressed by the extensive opportunities provided to students and the university’s academic excellence. Moreover, Dr. Demirhan expressed his willingness to support EMU’s international growth initiatives.

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç expressed his satisfaction with Dr. İdris Demirhan’s visit and emphasized the importance of strong collaborations in alignment with EMU’s international vision. Noting that EMU distinguishes itself as an institution offering world-class education, with a robust academic team and state-of-the-art infrastructure, Prof. Dr. Kılıç added that partnerships with Gulf countries would further elevate the university’s international presence.

Dr. Demirhan mentioned that moving forward, he would begin the necessary actions and establish contacts to boost EMU’s recognition and impact in the Gulf countries. He also highlighted that EMU, as the sole state university and pride of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), would pursue regional and international strategic collaborations with firm resolve.

During his visit to the TRNC, Dr. Demirhan met with TRNC President Ersin Tatar to discuss EMU’s position as the only state university in Northern Cyprus, its role on the international stage, and potential strategic collaborations in the region.

The visit is expected to be followed by more tangible projects and partnerships in the future. EMU will continue to strengthen the connection between education and the business sector, further expanding academic and industry collaborations through its upcoming projects. At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Kılıç presented Dr. Demirhan with a gift representing Cyprus.
