Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Theatre Community operating under the Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Directorate brought Agatha Christie’s internationally acclaimed mystery classic The Mousetrap to the stage as its year-end theatrical production, attracting theatre enthusiasts at EMU.
A 25-member student team from the community participated in the performance staged at the EMU Activity Hall. Directed by Ekin Karabulut, the play was staged with students taking an active role in every aspect of the production, including costumes, make-up, set design, stage management and backstage coordination.
Drawing audiences over a three-day period, the play was attended by EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu, together with academic and administrative staff members and students.
Recognized as one of the longest-running plays in theatre history, The Mousetrap centers on a mysterious murder that takes place in a guesthouse cut off from the outside world by a severe snowstorm. As every guest becomes a suspect, the tension steadily builds as the investigating detective uncovers a series of secrets surrounding the crime.
Hilal Aybike Taşkın and Salih Rıza Tek served as assistant directors of the production, while Damla Buket Akgül, Deniz Dilşa Okuryazar, Dilara Mirioğlu, Emirhan Sarıgül, Irmak Şanlı, İlayda Bilici, Sevgi Güneş, Sena Nur Kayalı, Sıla Ergöl, Şevval Şahin, Yiğit Kargın and Zeynep Sude Çelik were members of the directing and backstage team.
The cast featured Ahmet Emre Topaloğlu, Aleyna Özdemir, Buket Yiğitcan, Dilara Mirioğlu, Ekin Karabulut, Furkan Sırakaya, Gencer Hakan Gencer, Menekşe Defne Paralı, Nihal Kaya, Özkan Alp İşbiçer and Polat Emence.
The Mousetrap, prepared by the EMU Theatre Community, also represented EMU at the 14th Theatre Festival organized by Gaziantep University on 8 May 2026.
Following the performances, audiences showed great interest in the student-produced play, while the activities carried out by the EMU Theatre Community throughout the academic year contributed to campus life through a variety of artistic and cultural events. At the conclusion of the play, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu presented a plaque of appreciation to the theatre team in recognition of their efforts.
