As part of the “Career Talks” event series organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Education and the Alumni and Career Development Unit, a conference titled “Yapay Zeka Çağında Öğrenmeyi Korumak / Protecting Learning in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Buket Akkoyunlu, Vice Rector of Çankaya University.
During the conference, Prof. Dr. Akkoyunlu explored the transformation of learning in the age of artificial intelligence, drawing on scientific studies as well as comprehensive reports published by international organizations such as the Digital Education Council Global, the World Economic Forum, the European University Association (EUA), and the OECD. The conference provided participants with insights into current developments from the viewpoints of higher education institutions, students, faculty members, and employers.
The conference highlighted how education is being shaped to support the development of a human-centered, ethical, trustworthy, inclusive, and sustainable future. Topics such as changing approaches to learning, the restructuring of professions, and the transformation of competencies were discussed in detail. In addition, recommendations for future development were presented within the framework of advancing knowledge creation, generating societal benefit, and educating highly qualified individuals.
In the final session of the conference, which attracted considerable interest from both faculty members and students, Prof. Dr. Akkoyunlu responded to questions from the audience. The program emphasized the importance of addressing the subject through a holistic approach to ensure that learning can be sustained in line with the demands and conditions of the contemporary era.
