Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture’s 2023 graduate Arda Fethi Akgün achieved a major success. Akgün won the “Grand Prize” in Smart Furniture Academician/Professional category of the 16th National Furniture Design Competition organized by Central Anatolian Exporters’ Union. With his smart furniture design titled “UN”, Akgün has impressively secured victory in this competition for three consecutive years.
Sharing his overjoy for his achievement, Akgün said; “Design is an ever-changing field and meeting the consumer needs with innovative solutions is a huge source of motivation for me”.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afet Coşkun, Head of EMU Department of Interior Architecture congratulated Arda Fethi Akgün by saying; “We are proud to educate designers who stay up-to-date with global technological advancements and prioritize user-focused, sustainable approaches in their design work”.
Dean of EMU Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Resmiye Alpar Atun also made remarks; “The accomplishments of our faculty’s graduates at both national and international levels showcase the excellence of our education and the strength of our academic vision. Arda Fethi Akgün’s achievement also provides a motivating example for aspiring young designers”.
Lastly, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç made comments on Akgün’s achievement and said; “We take immense pride in seeing the young talents from our university receive such prestigious awards. These accomplishments reflect the strength of our educational foundation, the dedication of our academic staff, and the vision of our faculties in fostering students’ creative potential, and we are confident that such successes will continue. We warmly congratulate Arda Fethi Akgün and wish him ongoing success in his future endeavours”.
