Eastern Mediterranean University’s (EMU) registered athlete Ada Kafa continues to attract attention with her outstanding performances in the selection trials for the Turkish National Team’s Olympic development squad. Having previously achieved the qualifying standard for the European Championships, the young athlete added another significant accomplishment to her record by becoming the Türkiye U18 Champion at the Türkiye U18 Balkan Championships Trials and the Olympic Squad Selection Competitions held on 16–17 June. Through the results she achieved at the event, Kafa also surpassed the qualifying standard for the World Championships, further extending her impressive run of success.
Winning the 800-meter event with a time of 2:08.41 at the Türkiye U18 Balkan Championships Trials and Olympic Squad Selections, Ada Kafa secured the title of Türkiye U18 Champion and delivered a performance that offers great promise for future competitions. Continuing her preparations at the training camp in İzmir under the guidance of her coach, Hasan Maydon, the young athlete is progressing steadily toward her goals.
Ada Kafa is set to compete at the Türkiye U20 Championships in Eskişehir on 23 June and at an international competition in France on 28 June. Among her primary goals are earning a place at the U18 European Championships, to be held in July, and the U20 World Championships in the United States.
