Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising student Ata Özdemir actively participated in the designing process of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club’s 100th year of the Republic of Türkiye jersey. Moreover, EMU Visual Communication and Design Department double major student Özdemir demonstrated great success with his creativity and contributions to the project.
On 29 October, 2023, during the Fenerbahçe-Pendikspor match, the Fenerbahçe Sports Club Football Team celebrated Republic Day by wearing this special jersey. The jersey, which Özdemir also contributed to, received great attention from fans and football enthusiasts. Selling hundreds of thousands of units, this jersey was highly appreciated by Fenerbahçe supporters and sports fans alike.
In his statement, Özdemir said; “I was deeply honored to receive such an opportunity from the club I support. The experience of reading fans’ reactions when the jersey was first released was one thing, but seeing it worn on the field for the first time was an entirely different level of excitement. On 29 October, 2023, the jersey was worn in the match against Pendikspor, where Fenerbahçe won 5-0. Each time the jersey was available for purchase at Fenerium stores and on their website, it quickly sold out and had to be restocked several times. Witnessing a project I was involved in being celebrated by so many and seeing people wearing the jersey on the street brings me immense joy.” This achievement, which EMU proudly recognized, further demonstrates how EMU’s high-quality education fosters and supports the creative efforts of its students.
In recent years, Özdemir was named the winner of the World Cup Jersey Design Competition organized by Diaza Sportswear, one of the leading sportswear brands in the United States of America (USA), for the 2022 World Cup. This recognition was based on the results of the final voting in the Twitter Design Competition. In addition to this success, Özdemir has also achieved various awards in numerous sportswear events held globally.
